No one could be more proud of their heritage than I am.  I’m a proud Jew, I’m a proud American, I’m a proud gay man, Buckeye, social worker, teacher, etc. etc.  One thing I consciously work very hard at is remembering that the single most important group I belong to though is humanity.  We are all children of God; we are all created B’zatlem Elohim, in the Divine Image.

Parochial tribalism, the notion that your religion, race, country or ethnicity is somehow better than others or is endangered of being diluted is what drives much of social and political disharmony.  This video reminds us that when we consider that people have been migrating throughout history and intermarrying with communities other their native tribe.  SO WHAT?  Don’t hybrids work better anyway?
