Just yesterday I got into an enthusiastic exchange with a supporter of Israel who insisted that there is no distinction between those Palestinians who are promoting an independent Palestinian State and terrorists who promote killing Jews.
At this moment in American history we are watching a mainstream political party being kidnapped by a candidate who openly promotes intolerance, xenophobia and populist totalitarianism. In a fractured, less educated, economically disadvantaged third world should we really be surprised that hate, bigotry and outright evil impulses to kill and destroy others have taken hold among people living in a state of rage and desperation?
- You can be a moral, ethical Republican and not support Donald Trump.
- You can be a proud, ethical Muslim and Palestinian nationalist who doesn’t believe murder and destruction are in keeping with the teachings of the Koran or are required to bring about political change.
