America, explain something to me please?
Why are the chances better that an African-American young man without a gun, who hasn’t taken a shot anyone, walking down the middle of a street in Chicago or Ferguson is more likely to get shot multiple times and killed in an encounter with the police than a white psycho who kills 3 people including a police officer and goes to jail unscathed?
I’m certainly not expressing regret that Robert Lewis Deal didn’t get hurt…..just pointing out a very obvious distinction that is not at unusual in annals of American law enforcement. Something is rotten in the land of the free and the home of brave: Do we really have equal opportunity for all, or do we just like to use that line to pat ourselves on the back and cover-up our prejudices?
Is the American Dream really an equal-opportunity for all? Look at the direct and passive bigoted posts on many Facebook pages or Twitter feeds; or just watch Fox Noise for a while to see a rather long list of exceptions many people have for who gets an equal shot at the American dream and who does not.
