When Americans say “no” to admitting desperate, hungry and homeless refugees is it really out of fear of terrorism? Or is it just convenient excuse to express xenophobic intolerance?
Are those compassionate, welcoming words on that amazing lady in New York harbor who welcomed millions to this country just a clever bit of arrogant packaging for a false American image?
“Give me your tired, your poor,
Your huddled masses yearning to breathe free,
The wretched refuse of your teeming shore.
Send these, the homeless, tempest-tossed, to me:
I lift my lamp beside the golden door.”
