One of the great ironies of our times is the fact that the most conservative voices the world over, who insist on challenging social, cultural and political equality for LGBT people, often refer to the Bible as their proof text that homosexuality is an abomination. But in the land of the Bible a very tolerant, pluralistic society has opened its hearts and minds to LGBT people. No one is being told, “you must see homosexuality as OK;” no one is being ordered to modify age-old religious convictions. But many, if not most Israelis have little interest in or need to marginalize LGBT people.
And for this proud, gay Zionist and religious Jew, that reality is unadulterated NACHES!
